Abacode CTO Named to 2024 U.S. Department of Homeland Security's AEP to Address A.I. Threats

TAMPA, Fla. — Abacode Cybersecurity and Compliance (Abacode) today is pleased to announce that the firm’s Chief Technology Officer Jeremy Rasmussen will serve as a member of the United States Department of Homeland Security’s Public-Private Analytic Exchange Program (AEP) for 2024 addressing the Impact of Artificial Intelligence (A.I.) on Criminal and Illicit Activities.

The AEP is sponsored by the DHS Office of Intelligence and Analysis (I&A), on behalf of the Office of the Director of National Intelligence. DHS I&A Private Sector Engagement facilitates collaborative partnerships between members of the private sector and experienced U.S. government analysts to form several teams addressing national security and homeland security issues. Participants work to create Unclassified joint analytic deliverables of interest both to the private sector and the U.S. government.

Mr. Rasmussen’s participation in the DHS AEP underscores Abacode’s commitment to continuous learning and collaboration with academic and government stakeholders. Over its history, Abacode has collaborated with academic and government stakeholders, promoted an environment of continuous learning, published whitepapers and bulletins, and presented frequently at conferences and symposia across multiple industry sectors. With this appointment, one of Abacode’s thought leaders will collaborate with other industry and government subject matter experts to provide analysis on behalf of our nation.

“The impact of A.I. on criminal and illicit activities is a vast area of study,” Mr. Rasmussen said. “We can look at it from both sides – that is, on behalf of the attackers utilizing A.I. to find and exploit vulnerabilities, poison large language models, and so forth; and on behalf of the defenders leveraging A.I. to detect, respond, and prevent attacks. I am keenly interested in this topic and hope to develop valuable analysis benefitting both government and private sector stakeholders.”

Mr. Rasmussen brings more than 30 years of experience in developing secure communications systems, building cybersecurity services teams, and performing cybersecurity research and development for government and commercial clients. He has served as an adjunct faculty and external advisory board member of the University of South Florida Department of Computer Science and Engineering and founded the student ethical hacking group, the Whitehatters Computer Security Club (WCSC). He is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional and Certified Ethical Hacker. He was named 2017 Tampa Bay Technology Leader of the Year and 2023 CyberX Tech Leader of the Year.
